Just before the fall semester begins, Cuesta College will host the sixth annual Connect@Cuesta, a chance for first-time Cuesta College students to learn more about the college’s two campuses. This year the event will be held on the North County Campus in Paso Robles on Wednesday, August 10, from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., and on the San Luis Obispo Campus on Thursday, August 11, from 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Space is limited; students must register online prior to the event by visiting http://cuesta.edu/events/connectatcuesta/.

New this year will be a San Luis Obispo Campus scavenger hunt that involves Pokémon Go, the popular location-based augmented reality game that people can play on their mobile phones.

“We realize that many students will be playing Pokémon Go as they walk the campus, so we decided to have some fun and incorporate the game into a learning experience,” said Dr. Anthony Gutierrez, Cuesta College’s Student Life and Leadership coordinator. “The scavenger hunt involves campus tours where students learn about a variety of available resources, campus life, and classroom locations. During that time, we will allow students to play the game on their phones as they stop at places like the library, cafeteria and bookstore.”

The fall 2016 semester begins on August 15.
